Ive tried resetting the network systems on both the printer and the macbook. But for anyone who just wants to print wirelessly, this will work. So the issue here is not the printer disconnecting.įor half a fix, I made an IP connection from the Macbook with the printer which allows me to print perfectly but not scan, which I need.

To find out if the problem was the printer or the macbook, i pinged (not sure if that's a work) the IP address that I gave the printer and it worked. instead of changing the IP addresses to the first available one overtime the connection refreshes, I've given it a definite IP address. Now here are the things I've tried to solve it:įirstly, I changed the printers connection type from automatic to static, i.e. On our windows computer everything seems to work seamlessly, even when the printer is sleeping, the connections hold. If I restart the printer, it works again until it loses connection a couple of minutes later.

I found this correlates with when the printer first sleeps. Then after a minute or two macbook seems to lose the connection and says printer is offline.

When I turn the printer on, it connects to the macbook, and it works perfectly. I had this problem with my previous printer too (HP Photosmart B110a) and now our new printer (Brother DCP-J4120DW) I've read many topics and threads from a multitude of websites but still havent found a solution and am desperate to get one.
